Scatter Like Ash
13 & 14 December 2012 at the Camden People's Theatre, London.
Presented as part of CPT's 'Futureshock' festival. Something terrible has happened. A small group of survivors find each other and live in a roughly assembled camp. The dark is creeping in – and so are personal conflicts. Before whatever happened, they were strangers, but are now forced to live together. Then a child arrives, mute and alone, and is taken in by the camp. They tell stories around their makeshift fire, and discover that even when we lose everything, the one thing we still have is a story to tell. Scatter Like Ash is the debut production from Plunger, a collaboration between award-winning director Ben Mills (“funny, heart-warming” - The Independent) and Royal Court Young Writers Programme graduate Nathan D'Arcy Roberts. It blends stories from the local community with a stark vision of the future to create a unique theatrical experience, and explores the role of storytelling in society, asking how we go forward when all we have left are words. Director: Ben Mills Writer: Nathan D'Arcy Roberts Devised by the company Designer: Sarah Dowling Lighting Designer: Christopher Nairne Stage Manager: Amy Gunn Co-Producer: Emma Pritchard Cast: Anna Westlake, John Sears, Stella Taylor, Merric Boyd, Richard Holt and Jessica Pritchard. This production was developed with support from Camden People's Theatre and the Jerwood Space. |
